Ian Gilgrass

Now a technical consultant in the motor industry, Ian spent 10 years working for the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and was instrumental in developing the successful industry-led accreditation model of ATA (Automotive Technician Accreditation), now referred to as IMI Accreditation as well as developing many other nationally recognised qualifications. ATA has been successful with over 50,000 individuals achieving the recognition.

Ian originally comes from a technical background, both working with vehicle manufacturers and the independent sectors of the automotive industry to develop and deliver technical information into workshops.

He has also operated his own successful workshop business as well as working in both the independent, fleet, franchised dealership workshops, all leading from a vehicle technical apprenticeship.

John Parham

John Parham has nearly 40 years’ MOT experience to call upon. He started testing in 1978 and has been involved in the scheme ever since. John is qualified to Technician Status and has passed the Institute of the Motor Industry management examination.

John managed a garage and testing station for over 20 years before becoming a Regional Manager specialising in MOT related issues for the Retail Motor Industry Federation in 2001.

Since 2009 John has been running his own MOT consultancy business The MOT Professional, providing specialist assistance with MOT disciplinary matters in addition to carrying out MOT health checks, risk assessments and on-site training all over the country, but primarily concentrating on the South West of England and South Wales.

John has written many articles for various publications over the years including the IMI magazine, MOT Testing magazine and the RMI’s in-house members magazine.

John is a member of DVSA’s Consultants consultation group.

He has a wealth of knowledge gained over nearly four decades in the business and makes all of this available to our clients.

Dave-Easton

David Easton

David is an Engineer and Learning & Development Specialist possessing both operational and senior management experience, with a proven track record in the UK and Europe of developing, delivering and evaluating training, in addition to delivering projects that transform the way organisations deliver their products and services. 

He is a highly effective business professional who believes in building strong working relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring fit-for-purpose projects, business cases and plans are effectively managed and implemented by organisations.

During his time with DVSA and its predecessors VOSA and VI, David held a number of senior management appointments, which have included heading up the learning and development/education function, spending 2 years in Budapest working with the Hungarian administration and the European Commission developing legislation, systems and people in the vehicle inspection and enforcement field, and most recently designing and transforming the way MOT Testers and Managers in the UK are trained.

David also represented DVSA on CITA (the International Motor Vehicle Inspection Committee) specifically the working group responsible for quality and training).
